M ultimiliónový ópiový obchod začína tu, v údolí hôr Filo Mayor v štáte Guerrero na juhu Mexika.
Farmári, chudobní až tak, že žijú v drevených chatrčiach, živia rastúcu spotrebu heroínu v Spojených štátoch. Malé plastové tehličky ópiovej pasty sú pre nich jediným príjmom.
Mexická vláda sa snaží bojovať proti ópiu aj leteckými postrekmi makových polí, výsledkom je otrávená pôda, voda, zvieratá aj ľudia, ktorí z nej žijú. Miestni farmári majú jednoduchý výber - mak alebo nič.
Obchod stráca perspektívu pre všetkých okrem mexických kartelov, ktoré jediné dokážu nachádzať nové spôsoby ako zarobiť na drogách: po legalizovaní marihuany v niektorých štátoch USA.
